FAQs
How it works
How is EPS pension calculated?
Monthly pension = Pensionable salary × Pensionable service ÷ 70. Pensionable salary is the average of the last 60 months' wages (capped at the wage ceiling); service before 1 September 2014 uses a salary cap of ₹6,500.
How does the ₹25,000 ceiling change my pension?
Only months contributed after the effective date earn the higher cap. Because pensionable salary is a 60-month average, the full benefit builds up over five years — the ramp-up table shows the effect month by month.
What if I take pension before 58?
Early pension from age 50 is reduced (the calculator assumes 4% per year). Deferring beyond 58 up to 60 increases it (assumed 4% per year). You can change these assumptions.
